Enchanting imagery from from the lovely blog The Snail And The Cyclops. View the original post here.
I apologise for the lack of original content on my blog recently. I have been very, very busy and very, very bad at documenting what I have been up to.
This will all change soon, I promise!
In the mean time I hope you have been enjoying the inspiring imagery I have been posting. The last Taxidermist in Paris reminds me of a very fancy 'Get Stuffed' . I pass it every day on my way home from work and can't help but gaze thorugh the window, its well worth a trip to Essex Road just to peer in at them all.

Aelita: Queen Of Mars

A few weeks a go I went to see Aelita: Queen Of Mars at The Prince Charles Cinema.

It is a visual feast of a Silent Film and The PCC is a blessing to London's film lovers as it is independently run and they always keep their prices low (they show films from £1.50)!

Aelita is one of the earliest examples of space travel in film and has the most incredible Constructivist's sets and costumes. It cleary influenced Fritz Lang when he made Metropolis ( another one of my favourites) so it was a treat to see it for the first time on the big screen.

I just wanted to share with you some of it's visual delights...

The film was acompanied with a Score by the group Minima, they were fantastic.
They have put together some clips from the film to their own score which you can watch below.
It has a 'War Of the World's' vibe to it don't you think?... I love it.

I found this clip via the Silent London blog (a new found favourite of mine), their link is on my side bar and it is well worth taking a look if you love films of the Silent type.
They update with Silent film showings from all over the UK (not just London).

The Prince Charles Cinema are doing a Vintage film festival over the next few months and are showing so many classics. I am most excited about Freaks and Metropolis!

This weekend my thoughts and love go to the people of Japan and any one who has been affected by the devasting events there.

Shop update: Vintage Gym bench/ Shoe rack

Photobucket

I was very lucky to come across this beautiful vintage gym bench. It once belonged to an old school and I SO wish we had space for it in our house ( because God knows we have enough shoes to fill it) but sadly this is not the case so it is going into my shop.

It measures 56" long and as you can see the back is closed off with wire so it can be free standing or pushed up against a wall.

It would be fantastic for shop display/ prop use as an interesting and practical way to merchandise, or even for your home as an unusual storage solution.

Here's some of my favourite vintage gym and sports imagery to inspire and get you in the mood...
